Springing into action

The last week has seen a steady stream of spring species to the garden trap, thanks to the mild weather. Including one for which I had a 'gap' year in 2013, Oak Beauty.

Oak Beauty (Biston strataria)

Twin-spotted Quaker

Twin-spotted Quaker (Orthosia munda)

Pale Pinion

Pale Pinion (Lithophane hepatica)

Double-striped Pug

Double-striped Pug (Gymnoscelis rufifasciata)

  1. It's great to see the moths start coming in, this time last year I was lucky if I caught 1 moth at night last night (9th) I caught 29 of 7 species!!)

    1. Thanks for the comment, Ashley.

Same here, my garden is traditionally a slow starter but not this year thus far.
